So the date of our show is approaching. Still having no clue where we're going or how it looks we hop in a taxi and ride over to the infamous Pier 59 Studios. Smiling as we pass our tickets to the security we instantly get a bad vibe as he directs us to the front desk.
"I'm so sorry," The lady starts. "Those aren't real. Someone came here yesterday for the same thing. They came from Australia."
My heart instantly shatters. Daydreams crashing, floor by floor of the elaborate structure of a dream I built falls to the floor in smithereens.
Wow. Is all I can think to say. Don't cry, don't cry. I think to myself.
"I'm so sorry," she says again. "All I can do is let you stay for the presentation."
I immediately call my mom and explain to her the situation. Instantly, she was on it. Telling every single one of her Prayer Warriors they all got to work.
A plate of spaghetti that was on the house and a glass of cucumber water later I find myself on a couch beside my nana and a Vogue.com writer typing away on her computer.
When will it start? I think, tapping my Converse on the floor. I'm so underdressed.
As I presentation starts I glance around, checking for any A-listers. None so far.
After connecting with a model's mom, the lady from before (Cheska I believe her name was) comes and says she can squeeze us into the A Détacher show! I can't tell you how excited I am. Thank the Lord!
I think I spotted Alexander Wang as we went down the stairs to look for a store. Deciding against it we take a seat in the same couch from before and await the start of the show.
There were two other families who had the same "tickets" that we did and she also let them into the show. The scary thing about it is,the site is selling tickets for next year. Eventbrite is supposed to sell things that are real. Who's to say something else they sell isn't valid?
Standing behind the benches I readied my camera. Here we go....
The lights were harsh, but after editing them to match my Instagram theme, they're not too shabby.
So, moral of the story: You can never buy tickets to Fashion Week, you are invited. Unless Tommy Hilfiger is giving out free first-come-first-serve passes like he did for his Tommy x Gigi collection this year, steer clear. Everything will work out.
